This is an un-paid internship opportunity

The City of Phoenix is recruiting for an intern who will work with the Mayor and City Council offices, under the general guidance of the City Manager’s Office, to create and implement a program to better connect residents with City of Phoenix health related programs and services. 

Program components will include: branding the program with a logo and slogan; developing policy-related reports and presentations for elected officials, an intensive marketing/ public information effort, coordinating the program with internal and external partners; developing opportunities for elected officials to present the program at public events; and drafting remarks for officials. 

The intern will have the opportunity to be highly involved in every aspect of the development and implementation of the program, covering a broad range of professional management skills.

Requirements

This opportunity is ideal for an intern with, or seeking, a Masters degree in: Public Administration, Public Policy, Heath Policy, Community Resources and Development, Non-Profit Management, Social Work or any related field.  A Bachelors degree is mandatory, but coursework toward Masters degree is preferred. 

The intern must be able to coordinate and work with a broad range of professionals, elected officials, non-government partners and members of the public, toward a successful outcome. 

The intern must also have excellent written and verbal communication skills.

This internship will require a minimum commitment of 12 hours per week.  Internship hours can be adjusted upward to meet an intern’s interest and availability and/or university internship program requirements.  Days and hours are generally negotiable, with most work occurring between Monday – Friday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.  Weekend shifts to support special events may also be necessary, and will be arranged in advance with the intern’s supervisor.
