Greg Stanton being sworn in as the 52nd Mayor of the City of Phoenix on January 3, 2012, by former Arizona Governor Rose Mofford with wife Nicole.

Dear Fellow Citizens,

Our accomplishments as a city cannot be completed without the tireless work of volunteers. Whether it’s cleaning up graffiti, planting trees at a city park, or offering counseling with our crisis response teams, I have always been impressed with the compassion volunteers have shown for our fellow residents. It is a quality that makes me proud to be a Phoenician.

It is the spirit to serve that led me to reaffirm the city’s commitment to Cities of Service. Our city is fortunate to be a partner with Cities of Service, a collection of cities nationwide that are encouraging their residents to serve their communities in new ways. The Cities of Service Initiative is a commitment by the City of Phoenix to develop a coherent plan to match the abilities and passion of our residents with opportunities to volunteer. This plan is embodied by the Volunteer Phoenix website.

I encourage you to get involved and serve. Search the Volunteer Phoenix site and find the opportunity that is right for you. Thank you for visiting this page, and I want to thank you for your desire to donate your time to make our community a better place.

Greg Stanton, Mayor

In cities across America today, citizen service is often an underutilized or inefficiently utilized strategy by municipal governments. Cities of Service supports mayors to leverage citizen service strategies, addressing local needs and making government more effective.
